In the Blog section you can find some of the back stories of my favorite images. What goes into shooting, equipment, struggles or successes; I would like to use this blog as an area to learn from or a way to see the process for my photography.

Story Behind the Shot F100 ( Click to Read the Story)

This shot would ultimately lead me to one of my go to shots. I love taking shots like this, on a given roll of film I’ll have probably 5photographs like this but rarely does it hold up to this shot. For me I like to take pictures of details of cars and not the car in its entirety. I like interior shots like this because this is where the driver is. The view the driver would see most. We love the way cars look and thats what draws us to them, but when you own the car this is your view.

I love the fact that ford used a lightning bolt for the logo on the steering wheel. Rather than the blue oval and damn lightning bolt how cool is that, now a days theres no way you’ll see that. Even for the time I can’t think of other manufacturers that did, I’m sure there is but that’s besides the point. The colors in this picture help so much to bring the detail out on each feature. The center of the steering wheel pop so much because of the black around it and the gauges pop because of the white and the red acts like a barrier to keep your eyes inside the car and wonder what this truck has seen. Was it on a farm? was it your typical local craftsman going from job to job? We won’t know but we do know all those miles were racked up holding on to that wheel and staring at those gauges.

This photograph was taken at one of the local car shows over in Warwick New York. It’s a small beautiful town full of apple orchards and an awesome center of town with plenty of local stores and restaurants. This show was every thursday for a few years and was a blast to be at to break up some of the work week. It was funny, you go to a show enough people start to recognize the car but this time it was me who would get recognized. “The film guy is here.”
