Blog

In the Blog section you can find some of the back stories of my favorite images. What goes into shooting, equipment, struggles or successes; I would like to use this blog as an area to learn from or a way to see the process for my photography.

Story Behind the Shot "More Than Just Prints" (Click to Read the Story)

I’ve been having the discussion “what happens with all the shots you take?” and in this day and age it’s kinda sad that if you don’t see it on a social media platform “does it exist?”

Many of us fall victim to our photos being taken for the only reason to share them on the internet. I’m no different, I take pictures and post them in hopes to gain some traction as a photographer, but the number of likes does not equate to a photograph being successful, well composed, interesting, or correctly exposed. I post photographs I like that I want to share with likeminded people who can appreciate my work. But these photographs mean more to me than a social media post.

Lately I’ve been looking for new ways to view these photographs that leave a lasting mark on me. I have plenty of prints and I will support other artists by purchasing their work whenever I can. I grew up skateboarding as a kid and the excitement you get as a little dude getting a new deck is like Christmas morning. Wide-eyed looking at all these cool graphics and finding your favorite skaters board and gripping it up. As you get older the boards turn more into a poster or an oddly shaped piece of art you can collect rather than skate. It could be an artist series, an iconic shape, or skater.

I might not skate anymore but it will always be a part of who I am. Learning to skate from videos and magazines is where photography started for me and I can keep that part of me going by hanging these boards in a series I hope to continue.
