Story Behind the Shot The Road Worn Model A (Click to Read the Story)
“This old things got more miles on it than my damn truck”
So this little Model A I came across at my local car show trivia night grabbed my attention and held on to it all night. I was doing my rounds looking at everything and I must have gone up to the A 4 or 5 times before I took this shot. The car was a mix between fake patina and driven hard and put away wet. So I needed to know where the line in the sand was between the two.
After I took this picture the owner and I got to talking and gave me the whole story of their life together. Long story short the gentleman lives locally but every year the two of them make an adventure west. The Model A has driven from New York to the Salt Flats of Utah, Texas for the Lone Star Throwdown, California and some closer shows to home that you would think, makes sense that ain’t to for for this thing to get to.
So maybe patina is only half the story. The miles this car has seen and the reliability of a simple build has the owner completely confident that whatever direction this car is pointed it will get there and turn some heads along the way. I hope to bump in to the owner again and share this photo with him, it is one I look back to all the time and wonder which states the rock chips are from or how long he got stuck behind a tractor trail before stretching the legs of the little red coupe.
